More Girls and Women Joining Janus Open III

In recent years, we have placed great emphasis on encouraging more girls and women to participate in Janus Open. We are therefore very pleased that several have already registered for Janus Open III.

The Chess Olympiad is currently taking place in Uzbekistan. The Faroe Islands have entered an open team, but no women’s team, while our neighbours from Iceland have entered both.

We are delighted to announce that three members of the Icelandic women’s national team will participate in Janus Open III:

🇮🇸 WFM Hallgerður Þorsteinsdóttir
🇮🇸 Hrund Hauksdóttir
🇮🇸 WFM Guðrún Fanney Briem

They all won their games today as Iceland secured an impressive 4–0 victory against Namibia.

We hope that even more girls and women will be inspired to register for Janus Open III – and that the Faroe Islands will also be able to enter a women’s team in future international team events.
