Janus Open III – January 8–10, 2027
We in Talvfelagið Rókur are delighted to welcome you to Janus Open III, which will take place at Kolshøll from 8–10 January 2027.
Janus Open is a memorial tournament in honor of Janus í Løðuni, who was a very active and valued part of our club for many years. Through this tournament, we wish to remember him through the sense of community and joy that he brought to the chess environment.
The first two editions have been highly successful. The inaugural tournament in 2025 became the largest chess tournament ever held in the Faroe Islands, and in 2026 the event grew even further, attracting participants from both the Faroe Islands and abroad.
Once again in 2027, the tournament will consist of 8 rounds played over three days. Everyone is welcome to participate – experienced and inexperienced players alike, children and adults. All participants compete in the same section, and prizes will be awarded in several different categories.
As in previous years, special emphasis will be placed on creating a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere around the tournament. Free meals will be provided between rounds throughout the weekend, and we will also offer complimentary coffee and cakes. We hope once again to see many people gather for a great chess weekend in Eiði.
We also continue our efforts to encourage more girls and women to take up chess, and we are pleased to see that more and more are choosing to participate in Janus Open.
Registration and further information can now be found at www.janusopen.fo.
We look forward to seeing you at Kolshøll in January 2027!
Best regards,
Talvfelagið Rókur
