Food between the rounds
At the previous tournament, food was offered both on Saturday and Sunday. The time between rounds is short, and the games can be long. Therefore, we felt that having good food available at the playing venue worked extremely well. We have decided to do the same again for the upcoming Janus Open.
We are fortunate that Henrik Sommer from Sommer Matveiting will once again be responsible for the food this time. Several participants commented on how good the food was last time.
A few months after the tournament, His Majesty King Frederik visited Eiði, and it was none other than Henrik Sommer who had the honor of preparing the food for His Majesty. We don’t know for sure why he was chosen for this task, but perhaps it was because the mayor of Eiði Municipality – who also took part in the tournament – had never tasted such good food before!
We would also like to thank Samkeyp and Sjógæti for their generous support, which makes it possible for us to offer participants high-quality meals between rounds.
We also thank Jura kaffi, who is supporting the event by offering everyone free, first-class coffee throughout the weekend. The coffee can be enjoyed together with homemade cake baked by volunteers.
Join us for Janus Open II — more than just a chess tournament.
